Best Large Stand Award Perth Show 2012

Hey, Hey!  Guess who won the BEST LARGE STAND AWARD at Perth's Craft & Quilt Fair?  YEAH, YEAH  - PUNCH WITH JUDY

It was announced as being judged by "outside judges" (from the venue maybe) for presentation, ease of access, staff's friendliness and interaction, display and content plus a few more I can't remember.  Just remember shouting out a big "YEAH", (forgive me).

Reece claims all the honours for the award as being because of his presence since he is filling in for "Grandpa John" who wasn't able to attend this year's show.  The Show Organizers took this photo showing finger with No. 1 sign to send home to John. The second photo was taken by Liz. (couldn't decide which one to show you, so included both).  Thank you to everyone for making Reece feel so much part of the team and, as you see, he has enjoyed himself, even enjoying wearing our Scissorheads Headband.

Savannah has been helping on our stand and since she has been a student in some of our Online Classes, she kindly brought in some "show and tell".  The Westalee Constellation Quilt has been made but not yet quilted, a beautiful Christmas theme quilt.  Her "curves" quilt is made as a result of the Curve Master Online Course.

Both are quilt tops only at this stage.  Well done Savannah.  If you wish to join our Online Classes, you may join now even though they have commenced; no problems, you will catch up since there's no time limits and projects are your choice.  View all our Online Classes.

Sunday is your last chance to attend the Perth Craft & Quilt Fair, so we look forward to seeing you there at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre from 9.00am till 4.30pm.

Perth Craft & Quilt Fair

Are you ready PERTH and all of WA?  The Craft & Quilt Fair commences tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd May, daily from 9.00am until 4.30pm until Sunday 27th May.

We have been busy for weeks getting ready for this big event and it is such a long haul over to the West!
The last two days have been spent setting up our stand and this year, Reece, our eldest Grandson, is filling in for Grandpa (John) who reluctantly couldn't travel. The boys unloaded the truck which brought our stock over, courtesy of Harry from Creative Cottage Crafts.

One of our pattern stands collapsed as we were loading, so Reece is making do with an alternative display which has worked out quite well.

Our stand all finished, ready to greet our friends as the doors open!!
Diagonally opposite, you will find the Into Craft Stand, featuring our Nifty Notions segments - all proudly sponsored by Punch with Judy.   Demonstrations all day showing several of our new products.

SEE YOU AT THE FAIR!

To all the Mums - hope you were adequately spoilt today!

I most certainly was even though the day was spent packing for Perth as our stock leaves tomorrow and I fly out next Sunday.

At all the Craft & Quilt Fairs this year, there is a "Finger & Toes Challenge" and I LOVE socks.  The exhibition is on tour to each State and features entrants' handmade gloves, mitts, socks and slippers.  I took some photos of the display at Launceston Craft & Quilt Fair two weeks ago to share with you..

Cheryl Bridgart is a talented artist from South Australia and she was a guest at the show.  Cheryl is an internationally recognized artist in Fine Art Freehand Machine Embroidery and her display was mind boggling - the depth and detail of each piece is amazing.  She also had a range of hats on display.
Note her fine detail of stitching to bring her art alive.

Australia's Wearable Art Awards were on display too showing some incredibly talented people's imagination put into garments. There were many amazing outfits, but I have chosen a few to show. Anzac Day preceded the set up day of the Show, so we enjoyed a lunch at the restaurant at The Gorge in Launceston.  Nice to have a break - good company, food and wine delightful.
Must show you a sign above the Toilet Block at the Silverdome where the show was held.  Self-explanatory - read it.
Must tell you a funny story about kids' sport.  Young Hunter (Grandson #4) is now playing Soccer, all of four years old.  Six a side, girls and boys, though none really know what to do at this stage, of course, but they're learning.  First game, a plane flew overhead, so all the kids stopped and looked up in the sky to watch it - ball left rolling along with no-one interested.  Then one kid wanted a drink, but no, it wasn't half time, didn't matter, he just went off the ground to get one, so all the other kids followed and all had a drink. Hunter wasn't sure what to do in his first game, so stood in the middle and picked his nose.  Second game though, he got the hang of it.  Kicked 3 goals, just a shame they were for the opposition!
I told Rowan (Dad) that at four, Hunter was too young to play, but he said he's out in the fresh air, running around, learning to be part of a team and having fun; better than inside in front of a computer or TV.  How could I argue?
He arrived this morning with a lovely "Grandma" sparkly sign to place on my fridge; made it at Pre-School.  As proud as Punch, pardon the pun.  Told him I'd think of him everytime I open my fridge and he beamed from ear to ear.
Hope you all enjoyed your Mother's Day!
