The 2012 International Quilt Market at Houston, Texas, USA has just finished and we are now about to commence the Quilt Festival. The former is a Trade Show and the latter is their Retail Show - I will report day by day as I have the chance to do so. Congratulations to those Aussies who won awards which were announced today and, indeed, to ALL winners.
Let me show you what John may look like if I keep dragging him along on the gypsy show circuit!
One thing that amazed me was the effort and creativity of some exhibitors in how they set up their booths. There were so many fantastic ideas and I'd like to share just a few with you. The second thing that struck me was that there were so many displays featuring home decor and using patchwork fabric for room make-overs and for garments both for children and adults.
Ever thought what you can do with all your Jelly Rolls? These are new ones from Moda that were released at the show displayed on one of the individual booths. These certainly were a show crowd stopper.
What about decorating your caravan inside and out ready for your next holiday? Another definite crowd stopper!
Tins of paint on top of pillars in each corner of this booth highlighted the new colour palette of that company's new fabric range. Even the covers on the chairs within the booth had paint oozing down the fabric.
For your next outdoor function, maybe you would like to make a huge quilt but in four sections and use it as an outdoor canopy? What a brilliant piece of work, really! Just look at the booth structure - incredible. It really is a quilt in four sections; take a look at the closeup photo. All suspended.
I will show you more next blog.
