Canberra Quilters - Winning Quilts 2013

During August we were Exhibitors at the Craft & Quilt Fair in Canberra and all the visitors kept telling me how great this year's display of quilts from members of Canberra Quilters was, so I ducked off my stand early Sunday morning to take some photos and have to agree with everyone - amazing work.  I shall bring you some of those photos over the next few postings.
Hope you enjoy - sharing for those not able to be there!

BEST OF SHOW was awarded to JENNY BOWKER for her quilt "Earth, Air and a Memory of Water" which also won FIRST PRIZE in the ART QUILT (Open) Section.

Jenny also won a new Bernina 750QE for winning the Best of Show as it is sponsored by Bernina Sewing Machines.
Jenny is a well-known quilter, both in Australia and Internationally.  She is also the 2013 winner of the coveted Rajah Award acknowledging her outstanding contribution to quilting in Australia, announced at this year's Australasian Quilt Convention. A truly amazing quilter.

Jenny said "For the theme of Elements, I decided to work with a recent trip across the Great Western Desert - the Sahara".

Not a winner of any quilt award, but I thought you'd love this great idea.  Modelled by Michelle and friend, cute bracelets which Michelle made - I cheekily asked "where's one for me?"  Suppose I'll have to make my own!  Don't you just love these?  Covered hexagon shapes with a button closure. Michelle gave me permission to share with you.

More winning quilts to come...............
