Spirit of the Land Festival 2013 Winners

Since it is Australia Day on Sunday 26th January and we have a whole 3 days of celebrations of remembering who we are in relation to our past, our present and our future, I thought it would be appropriate to share with you some of the winning entries in our local festival.
I live in the Shire of Lockhart, NSW, Australia where each Spring is held the Spirit of the Land Festival.
Early in 2013 it was announced that it may cease to exist for many various reasons, but due to public outcry from not only locals but many from afar, a new committee was elected and with community support the Festival survived.
Visit www.spiritofthelandlockhart.com.au for more information.

The National Farm Art Sculpture Awards are always interesting, intriguing, fascinating and all those superlatives, but it never ceases to amaze everyone just what can be achieved with "junk" laying around an Aussie Farm. Sculptures have to be made of just that!  Pieces of artwork created from materials from the land.  Enjoy!

The Winning Entry for THE NATIONAL FARM ART SCULPTURE 2013
was awarded to
TREVOR BECKWITH for his creation "AMMONITE AUSTRALIS"

RAELEEN PFEIFFER, who is a local artist and who helped me in my early years of Punch with Judy with graphic design etc. visited one day asking for some Emu Eggs as she wanted to use them for her contribution art design for this competition.  Pleased to say that Raeleen was the winner of the CONTEMPORARY AWARD for her KURRAJONG FLOWER. See the Emu Eggs as the pods!

The SMALL SCULPTURE AWARD was given to
TOBIAS BENNETT for his "ROCKING RAM".

Tobias also had another entry which was very popular with visitors.
CONAN THE BOVBARIAN

The LOCAL ARTIST AWARD was won by
LUKE TREVASKIS for his entry "READY TO GO".

Two other well received entries were:
THE EMU FAMILY by STUART TAYLOR

PLUS
BIG RED by ANDREW WHITEHEAD

NOW - HOW MUCH MORE AUSTRALIAN CAN YOU GET?

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY - 26th January, 2014
