As you would know, we have an Online Class for the Westalee Mystery Sampler Quilt in progress which commenced on 1st February. I had previously stated that students could join up to 1st June, but I've decided that the end of this week should be the cut off date for new enrolments to join us. So, if you'd like to participate in this absolutely amazing journey for the rest of the year, please enrol now, before 1st April. Ten Blocks are given via my website on the 1st of each month with some extra ones here and there. 113 Blocks in all, last ones in November this year. You may make as many as you like or as few as you like - the best part of it all is that you are learning how to be a patchworker with absolute precision and accuracy using the Westalee Design Rulers system. So many quilting tips as we progress each month too.
You will need one of the Westalee Adjustable Rulers, the Half Square Triangle and the Quarter Square Triangle (our Westalee Starter's Kit) in order to make approx. 80% of the blocks and you have the option of purchasing some of their Constellation Series Templates for the remainder of the blocks. Make them from your stash! This is the best part the students tell me because it is not a large outlay of dollars since they may use fabric they have.. Particularly when the whole 10 months course costs only $30.00. Yes, just $30.00, not each month, $30.00 TOTAL for the whole year.
I have never known such an enthusiastic group as those in our Yahoo Group for this course. Girls who have never made a quilt before are being helped by the more experienced within the group, as well as myself as the moderator, of course. I am still in awe as to how this has soared to such levels as it has, with such popularity; many a time by students telling their quilting friends to come and join in the learning curve. I hear so often of customers purchasing products then never know how to use them properly or to their full extent. HERE is your opportunity. An invitation for you to join us and learn so much more about the Westalee Method of Quilting.
A few weeks ago, I was hostess to Leonie and Bill West, from Westalee Design Rulers, as they stayed with John and I overnight not once, but twice. Lee, who designed and made the Reunion Quilt (pictured above) wouldn't allow me to photograph her with the quilt, but would allow these photos for me to share with you because the quilt in real life is so much more brilliant in colour than previous photos I'd seen of it indicated. Shame that she wouldn't donate the quilt to me since it matches our home decor perfectly! Guess, I'll just have to make a similar one. Even on my camera the colours are brighter and nicer than shown here.
Here are some closeups, mainly to help the students enrolled in the course.
Elaine Istria, one of the course students, visited our stand at the Brisbane Craft Expo on the weekend and very kindly brought in her very detailed folder she's compiling with all the class notes, instructions, hints, tips, personal notes and, of course, samples of each Block. Well done Elaine! Her colour choices and accuracy of sewing her Blocks is a credit to her, though she claims it is all due to the wonderful new found accuracy she's discovered by learning the Westalee System.
Don't forget the AQC coming up in a few weeks time at the Royal Exhibition Buildings in Carlton Gardens, Nicholson Street, Carlton, Melbourne. Any Westalee Course students visiting we will be meeting late afternoon with Leonie for a show and tell plus question time, day and place to be decided, but at the show, of course.
Special Guest on our stand will be Sandra Chandler from USA, the inventor of the Curve Master Presser Foot. Quilting with the Curve Master Online Classes commence on June 1st, 2011. Enrolments now open.
