More AQC 2011 Winners

Australian Patchwork & Quilting (APQ) and the Australiasian Quilt Convention (AQC) presented a 2011 Challenge for the show awarding $5,000 to the Winner, $2,000 to the Runner Up and $500 for the Viewer's Choice.  The theme of the 2011 Quilt Competition was "Seven Deadly Sins" - imagine!!!!

At the Cocktail Party at the AQC the winners were announced. 
Our congratulations to Bronwyn & Bianca Hill
with their entry "HOLLYWOOD".


Runner Up was awarded to Linden Lancaster
with "OMNIA VINCIT AMOR" (Love Conquers All)


Viewers' Choice was awarded to Eileen Campbell
for her "GLEEFUL SINNERS".


Aren't they wonderful?  Also announced was the Rajah Winner for 2011 - this year going to Mary Hitchens from Vic.  Mary created the Mary McKillop Quilt as in dedication to the recent saint and it hangs in the boardroom of the Mary McKillop Place.  The Rajah Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution by an individual to quilting in Australia.  Name given in honour of the famous Rajah Quilt which is in the National Museum in Canberra.  You should google "Rajah Quilt" and read of it's place in our history.

The Lut-Da Award goes to a quilter who has made an outstanding contribution to their local or quilting community via the medium of quilting. The 2011 Award was presented to TWO people jointly being honoured this year.  Our congratulations to Roslyn Moules from NSW and Iris Hockley from ACT.
