Best of Show Houston 2012

Sherry Reynolds is one delightful lady.  I was so impressed with her talking to the public as she represented her heart-felt quilt "America, Let It Shine" which she said was so much close to her heart that she shed several tears at intervals whilst she was making it.  It won Best of Show 2012, sponsored by Handi Quilter and earned her $10,000 entered in the section Quilts: A World of Beauty.

For all the quilt winners visit: http://www.quilts.org/winners.html
The Australian Quilters did very well with 5 quilters succeeding.  Quilters from The Netherlands also scooped many awards.
There were Aisles A - T showing quilts from both the left and the right of the aisles I show you here, viewing into the distance, so you may imagine how long it takes to view them all!

I have been endeavouring to show you images from the shows and some items of interest that may not have made the usual channels for viewing.  Here are some more.

The Quilted Yurt in the USA by Linzi Upton from Scotland certainly drew attention.  It is pieced, free-motion quilted and painted.  Linzi said the idea first occurred to her when she was considering how to insulate the canvas of the Yurt she has in her garden.  Amazing.  Inside was a whole array of treasures.

The display of dolls was incredible with this year's challenge "The Charmed and Mystical Gypsy".  There were so many but here's a glimpse.

There will be plenty more to come but tomorrow I fly home and straight to the Adelaide Craft & Quilt Fair so be patient. Hope you are enjoying.  Visit the Adelaide Show commencing Thursday at 10.00am.  Full particulars here.  www.craftfair.com.au   I will be holding my Nifty Notions 30 mins demos all day on the Into Craft Stand at the show too.  Have you read my last editorial in www.intocraft.com.au under Nifty Notions, live to air on 1st November?  There's lots of other interesting segments too, of course!!!

  2. Wow, Sherry, that didn't take long for someone to report to you! You are most welcome and I truly meant every word of praise not only for you as the quilter but you as a person which shone through. You wouldn't remember my face from the many in the crowd but I was the one who promised you I wouldn't publish a photo with your mouth wide open or your eyes shut, as often happens when cameras are popping every second!
