More Quilts from Victorian Quilters' Showcase 2013

Some more winners and others on display at the Melbourne Craft & Quilt Fair last week.

First Prize in the Traditional Two Person - Both Professional, was won by LINDA COLLINS for her "DIAMOND SAWTOOTH".  Machine pieced and quilted by Karen Terrens. The 170cm square quilt was inspired by an antique quilt in the Infinite Variety Exhibition in NYC 2011.

SANDRA GATES received a Highly Commended in the Traditional Two Person, Amateur - Professional, for her "SERGENTS STRIPE", an 89 x 89cm quilt.

Whenever surveys are conducted re favourite colour combinations for quilts, red and white wins hands down always.  Yet red fabric may 'run' very easily into white fabric.  Special care needs to be taken.
That's what happened to Judith Leckie's quilt but she was able to remove the disaster and was so thankful to win Runner-Up in the Small Quilt Amateur section for "My Christmas Sanderson Star", Judith's interpretation of the Sanderson Star quilt of North Country in UK.  It was machine pieced and hand quilted, measuring 112 x 111cm.  The quilt was actually red and white, though the camera used here has given it a warmer creamy tone.

Leonie West was a guest on my stand demonstrating her range of products from the well-known Westalee Design Rulers.  Though her Kali Star quilt didn't win an award, we certainly sold lots of the Kali Star Template Set and introduced her new book giving 88 Kaleidoscope quilt design ideas.

It is not as hard as you may think since sections commence with strip piecing.

Just a reminder too that Punch with Judy holds ONLINE CLASSES for two separate courses using Westalee Design Rulers.

MORE QUILTS TO COME!
