More Winning Quilts from Canberra Quilters

At every Show, at every Guild, there's conversation about today's trends in quilting, how it has developed into an art form, a photographic scene, machine embroidered and now the latest trend of "Modern Quilts".
So it was a delight to see a Special Award for
"RETAINING THE TRADITION".
JANELLE NOACK showed her quilt "Retreat Station" and this was chosen for this special award.

Another Special Award was the Claire Ayling Batik Award.
JANET CRUISE was selected for this award for her quilt
"Not Quite a Rainbow".

A string of prizes to LARAINE CULNANE for her quilt "Street Art #1" - First Prize (non professional) Wall Quilt; the Margaret Armistead Special Award for a first time non-professional exhibitor; the Bernina Amateur Encouragement Award and the Bernina Best Amateur Award.  Well done Laraine!

First Prize for the best Commercially Quilted Quilt (Open) was won by ANGIE WILSON for her "The Feather Beast: Slayed".  It also won the award for the Best Use Of Colour.

"Only Way We are Going to Get There" must have been an omen for ANN-MAREE JACOBS, JANET HEFFERNAN & MARY STEEL as their combined efforts won them First Prize in the GROUP QUILT (Open) Section.

Congratulations to all these winners.

When I get a chance, I'll share some beautiful images of the Tiny Treasure Quilts and the Texstyle displays, from this show; but my next blogs will allow you to join the three days of our Machine Embroidery Retreat at The Rock, commencing TODAY!
