Houston Quilt Market - DAY TWO

You know how I love my farmyard animals and, in particular, my chooks!

Discovered this beautiful specimen guarding the other Farm Animals on the AQS stand at Houston Quilt Market today.
Here they are and note the sign requesting not to feed them.

Why? Because the new Ms. MacDonald's Farm Quilt Block of the Month, by Bonnie Keller, is about to start.  Think I will just HAVE to have this one for you to purchase.  Want it?  12 monthly patterns and a 32 page technique book.  Or, would you rather buy it as one complete purchase?
Don't you love the E.I.E.I.O. at the top?

Also on the AQS stand was none other than Jody Anderson, an Aussie, offering a book signing for her new book "Easy Sew Jelly Roll BAGS".  I got an autographed copy when she called me over by name since she knows me.  How proud we are of our girls, in particular, our younger generation gaining recognition!

Saw Lynette Anderson, another famous Aussie, demonstrating for a video taping, on her own stand.  She is using Apliquick Scissors and Apliquick Tools for Needleturn Applique - which we sell for her.

Found some more decorated shoes, this time sneakers. Aren't they great? I challenge you to do something similar and send me a photo. Ribbons, zippers, buttons, paint, twisted cord, trinkets and any bling at all.
My sincere apologies too, I goofed in yesterday's blog report. Referring to the decoupaged projects, they were made by JAMIE FINGAL and the instructions will be on HER blog late November. They were not made by Rose Hughes as I had inadvertently stated.

Ordered some great new trends in Machine Embroidery, mostly applique sewn in the hoop, some laser cut out kits, others quilting designs to die for.
Some from Affairs of the Heart (above) and some from Lunchbox Quilts (below).

Simplicity/EZ Quilting Tools had a display of items using their quilting rulers and templates which I thought was different and gave some ideas for gifts too.
Alexander Henry Fabrics display of their fabrics themed with skeletons and skulls smiling, dressed in bright costumes, representing Dia De Muertos.  It is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and in some other countries around the world - focusing on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember those family and friends who have died.  Different, to say the least and very bright, attracting lots of by-passers too.

The item I gave the most innovative creative idea of merchandising though would have to go to HAPPY HOLLOW DESIGNS for their range of Ornament Kits which they sell through local quilt shops.

Inside the Cheesecake Box is the actual Ornament Kit, all gift packed and just look at the back of the box. The Nutrition Facts are stated and I'm pleased to say that they are Calorie Free!

Doesn't this clever idea just take the cake?   Pardon the pun.
